About
Xenia, derived from xenos, or "stranger," comes from the ancient Greek concept of hospitality, often translated as "guest friendship" or "ritualized friendship." It is a relationship rooted in generosity, gift exchange, and reciprocity. Historically, hospitality towards foreigners and guests was understood as a moral obligation.
So what does this reciprocal relationship mean for us here at Xenia Review? Well, as a literary review, we might not be able to bathe you and escort you to your next destination like in the olden days, but we do extend an invitation to you here, to stop by at any time. We hold our door open for you. We have your xenona, or guest room, ready and waiting always. The only gift we ask for in return is that you take off your shoes, sit for awhile, and share with us your stories.
